ROSEN HOUSE & GARDENS Rosen House Tours
Children 16 and under are admitted free to tours of the magnificent Rosen House at Caramoor, the former summer home of Caramoor's founders, Lucie and Walter Rosen. The Rosen House contains a vast collection of Renaissance, 18th-century, and Eastern art objects, including furniture, tapestries, sculpture, paintings, textiles, porcelain, and jade in twenty rooms that are open to the public. There are entire rooms that were imported from European palaces and villas. In fact, Caramoor is one of just five mansions in the country that incorporate entire rooms into its collection. Guided tours are offered Wednesday through Sunday from 1:00pm - 4:00pm with the last tour at 3:00pm.
Caramoor Gardens - enjoyed by children of all ages Caramoor is more than just music - there is beauty at every turn. Caramoor's gardens are also well worth the visit and include nine unique perennial gardens. Among them are a Sense Circle for the visually handicapped, a Butterfly Garden, Tapestry Hedge, and an Iris and Peony Garden, which may be enjoyed on one's own or seen on a guided tour. more info

2008 Exhibition - A Journey in Maiolica: Italian Renaissance to American Contemporary more info
The latest exhibition at Caramoor's Rosen House features an array of fanciful scenes - a crowned goddess flanked by winged cherubs; serpents swarming in a turbulent sea; horned satyrs dancing in the forest; Adam and Eve tempted in the garden, and more - all depicted in vivid yellows, blues, greens, and beautiful ochre hues. These biblical, historical and mythological images, selected from the Museum's permanent collection, are all the more remarkable because they exist on the face of 16th-century Italian maiolica pottery. Also, of particular interest, is a set of twelve Catalan tiles from the 18th to the early 19th century, designed by Francisco Goya y Lucientes (1746-1828) depicting whimsical musicians.
Both exhibitions are part of All Fired Up! A Celebration of Clay in Westchester, organized by the Westchester Arts Council and the Clay Art Center to explore the versatility of ceramics.
AGAIN - Recent ceramic works by Kathy Ruttenberg Spanish Courtyard Tickets: Included with Rosen House admission of $10.00
As part of the Rosen House exhibition A Journey in Maiolica: Italian Renaissance to American Contemporary, Kathy's installation will bring the outdoor stage at the Spanish Courtyard to life with a love story, a tragedy, a mystery and a fairy tale all in one, leaving the narrative left to the viewer's imagination.
AGAIN Exhibition Hours Saturday, October 4 to November 16, 2008; Hours: October - Wednesday through Sunday 1:00pm to 4:00pm / November - Tuesday through Friday 1:00pm to 4:00pm
